Shaun and Liz maintain a girlfriend, boyfriend relationship nothing much more than that. Shaun is a 29 year old salesman living with a flatmate and his best friend that never leaves, Shaun's social life consists of going to work everyday to do the same thing he always does, playing video games with Ed his best friend and drinking beer at the Winchester (pub), oh yeah and his girlfriend Liz, it seems like she's just along for the ride most of the time.

"Shaun, what I'm trying to say is, I need something a little more, rather than spending every night in the Winchester. I wanna get out there and do more interesting stuff, I wanna live a little, and I want you to want to want to do it too! Listen to me, I'm beginning to sound like your mum – not that I know what she sounds like." (Liz) This scene takes place at the Winchester one night while Ed, Shaun's best friend interrupts their conversation constantly. Shaun promises Liz that they will go out to dinner the next day and completely forgets to make reservations, thus Liz breaks off the relationship.
